Upland cotton that’s been treated to accept dyes more readily. Use direct, fiber reactive, or even acid dyes, including food coloring, without extra chemicals and natural dyes without mordants. Dyed in this manner side by side with untreated cotton, this sliver will take the dye and the untreated will not.
There is a pink fugitive tint In the un-scoured cotton That will wash out when you scour it before dying. The tint is a marker so you can distinguish it from untreated cotton. It must be washed in hot water prior to dyeing to remove the pink tint.
The scoured has been washed to remove the waxes and tint and is ready for color. Or spin straight and dye after.
If you want to dye cotton with either silk or wool in the same dye bath, follow the usual directions with the auxiliaries.
This listing is for 1 oz. Depending on supply, scoured cotton make take up to 2 extra days to ship. I scour it in batches. I will let you know when it will ship within 12 hours of the order if I don’t have any on hand already scoured.
