This is a fine lace weight 100% tussah silk yarn. Hand dyed by Esther Rodgers and then hand spun by me. The colors are hard to capture, but it is shades of gray, blue, with greens, lavender and pinks throughout.
Tussah silk is less lustrous than it’s Bombyx cousins It is slightly wider diameter fibers and they have slight dimples along the length. Once spun, rather than shining like Bombyx, it glows and shimmers. This has the excellent drape you expect from silk yarns.
This is a 2 oz skein measuring 570 yards. For weavers, this is approx 4560 ypp average about 18/2. It is suitable for warp or weft. For knitters, suggested needle size of US 1 about 9 stitches per inch.
While every effort is made to represent the colors accurately, all monitors are different. I can’t guarantee the colors you see are the exact colors of the item.
